GMA7-TV5 possible merger

The merger of GMA7 and TV5 is not impossible. Recent reports shows that Business Tycoon Manuel V. Panngilinan (MVP) is seriously negotiating with the major stockholders of media giant GMA Network for acquisition.

If the deal pushes through, GMA7 and TV5 can merge and can exchange and share talents and platforms together which will result in a virtual duopoly. MVP will have a control of more than 50% of the total televiewers nationwide.

The Congress and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) will still have to decide wether this deal will be legal and not against the constitution.
